Bethlehem, PA – Trans-Bridge Lines, Inc. has held a Safety Day for its employees for the past 24 years. This year, for its 25th, the day was revamped into Safety Week with the slogan “When it Doubt, Check it Out!” The weeklong activities were held Monday, April 22 through Friday, April 26. Safety Week continues with the tradition of focusing on safety in every situation and a dedication by the management team to all employees, passengers and the community in which it operates.
The week was highlighted by several safety sessions in which Tom JeBran, president, and Jim JeBran, executive vice president and treasurer, addressed all employees including drivers, office and shop staff. The sessions occurred at the Port Authority Bus Terminal meeting room and the Trans-Bridge Lehigh Valley Industrial Park offices respectively. Tom spoke on the company’s accomplishments, challenges and goals for the future. Employees’ were honored for their achievements in safety and attendance, receiving certificates and pins engraved with their years of safe service. Drivers with safe records ranged from 1 year to an impressive 43 years. After each session, employees were treated to a catered meal provided by the company.
The week’s events focused on many facets, which together, presented a complete safety mindset. This included a fire drill, an overview of CPR procedures and guest speakers. Keynote speakers were Christopher Rotondo, division administrator, FMCSA – New Jersey, USDOT / FMCSA and Sergeant Kevin Conrad of the Bethlehem Police Department. Rotondo spoke of the importance of following regulations and being on the offensive in sighting human trafficking through Busing on the Lookout (BOTL). Conrad did a video presentation on what individuals can do in an emergency situation. Mark Kleibscheidel of Cetronia Ambulance finished the weeklong events on Friday, giving the Trans-Bridge staff an overview of how to administer CPR using a dummy prop to show the Hands-Only CPR method. Kleibscheidel also brought an AED(automated external defibrillator) to demonstrate its importance in saving lives and ease of use.
Scott Clark, Trans-Bridge Lines’ Safety and Training Manager, and Brendan Stanczyk, Safety and Training Supervisor, also updated fellow employees on certifications, current initiatives, and future trainings. Stanczyk produced a video featuring several clips of real life traffic accidents and pedestrian strikes that emphasized the importance of being alert and aware of one’s
surroundings at all times.
Throughout Safety Week, JeBran conveyed to the company the importance of the Trans-Bridge Vision: “Our commitment to our customer’s satisfaction and safety leave no acceptable alternative in the transportation market.” He further emphasized the core values in place to support that Vision: Trust, Teamwork, Employee Success, Customer Service and Social Responsibility.
